Game of Thrones 806: The Iron Throne

In the concluding episodes of Season 8 the White Walkers were destroyed in the battle over Winterfell, allowing Daenerys Targaryen to return south and raze King’s Landing. Shocked by Daenerys’s cruelty, Jon Snow assassinated her, leading to his banishment to the Wall. In the aftermath, the Grand Council of Westeros agreed to make Bran Stark king and to allow the North to secede.

? ?? 803 Battle of Winterfell

In and around Winterfell, the living forces, led by Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, faced off against the Night King and his army of the dead (“the White Walkers”) as they attempted to march south to conquer Westeros. Despite heavy casualties and seemingly insurmountable odds, Snow’s cousin Arya Stark ultimately dealt the decisive blow by killing the Night King, causing his entire undead army to disintegrate. The victory was hard-won, but it came at a significant cost to the defenders of Winterfell. see external link

? ?? 804 Battle at Dragonstone

After the Battle of Winterfell, Daenerys Targaryen and her forces sailed back to Dragonstone, while Jon Snow, the armies of the North and the Vale, and the remaining Dothraki marched south on the Kingsroad towards King's Landing. As she approached Dragonstone, Daenerys was ambushed by part of Euron Greyjoy’s Iron Fleet, which fired on Daenerys’ surviving dragons, Drogon and Rhaegal, killing Rhaegal with a ballista bolt. Most of Daenerys’ followers escape to the safety of Dragonstone, but her advisor and interpreter Missandei was captured by Euron and was later executed at King’s Landing by order of Cersei Lannister. see external link

? ?? 805 Battle of King's Landing

After negotiations broke down between Daenerys Targaryen and Cersei Lannister, Daenerys and her allies attacked King’s Landing. Riding Drogon, Daenerys ambushed and destroyed the Iron Fleet before it was ready, then overwhelmed the city’s defenses. Enraged after the death of her dragon Rhaegal and her advisor Missandei, Daenerys ignored the bells telling of the city’s surrender and instead burned much of King’s Landing to the ground with her dragon Drogon. Cersei and her twin brother Jaime were both killed when the Red Keep collapsed on them during the confrontation. see external link

? ?? 806 Assassination of Daenerys Targaryen

Following Daenerys Targaryen’s destruction of a surrendered King’s Landing and the growing evidence of her madness, her Westerosi advisors turned against her and a reluctant Jon Snow stabbed her through the heart in front of the Iron Throne. Her dragon Drogon then melted the Iron Throne with his fire before picking up Daenerys’s corpse and flying away with it. Infuriated by Jon’s actions, the Unsullied arrested him on charges of treason and regicide. see external link

? ?? 806 Great Council in the Dragonpit

Following the assassination of Queen Daenerys Targaryen by Jon Snow, a Great Council, made up of the heads of the surviving Great Houses of Westeros and other key players, was convened in the Dragonpit at King’s Landing. Under the advise of Daenerys’s former Hand Tyrion Lannister, the Council agreed on Bran Stark (“Bran the Broken”) as King in an elective monarchy, in which his successors would be chosen by the lords and ladies of the realm. The Council also accepted the secession of the North as a separate kingdom, leaving Six Kingdoms in the south, and agreed that Jon Snow should be banished to the Wall. see external link
