Game of Thrones 110: Fire and Blood

When King Robert Baratheon died, Ned Stark, the Hand of the King and Warden of the North, refused to recognize Prince Joffrey—who Ned had discovered to be a bastard—as the rightful heir. Joffrey assumed the Iron Throne anyway and had Ned executed, leading to a four-way civil war in which Robert’s brothers Stannis and Renly both claimed the throne and Ned’s son Robb led a rebellion in the North. Meanwhile in the Dothraki lands to the east, Daenerys Targaryen, daughter of the “Mad” King Aerys—who Robert had deposed—and widow of the Dothraki Khal Drogo, managed to hatch three dragons.

While Khal Drogo is leading his men in the plunder of a village of the Lhazareen, he stops his men from raping the village women in response to protests from Daenerys, triggering a fight between him and the infuriated Dothraki rider Mago. Although Drogo kills Mago, the Khal is seriously wounded in the clash and, despite Daenerys’s employment of the maegi Mirri Maz Duur to treat his injury by what the Dothraki consider “witchcraft”, dies. As a result, the Great Dothraki Khalasar breaks apart, leaving Daenerys with just a few loyal followers. see external link

The following morning it is revealed that Daenerys has survived, and three newly-hatched dragons are clinging to her body, the first three dragons in the world in a century and a half. Her advisor Jorah Mormont and the remaining Dothraki fall to their knees, proclaiming Daenerys their queen and leader. see external link
